The Fortune 500 is an annual list of the top 500 American public corporations as measured by gross revenue. Eligibility for the list does not require the company to be publicly traded on a stock exchange, but its revenues must be publicly available.

Fortune is an American magazine published by Time Inc. It was founded in 1930.
